  • Using size 8 mm circular knitting needles: 12 sts = 4 inches (3 sts per inch)
  • Using size 9 mm circular knitting needles: 8 sts = 4 inches (2 sts per inch)

Let's Begin:
CO 54 sts
Being careful not to twist the sts, place first stitch marker and join. Be sure to move stitch marker placements for each round.

Round 3: repeat round 1
Round 4: repeat round 2

Round 14 – 17: repeat round 8
Round 18: repeat round 13
Round 19 – 22: repeat round 8
Round 23: repeat round 13
If you would like to have a longer slouch on your hat, add additional repeats of rounds 8 – 13.

Decrease: Switch from 9mm circular needles to 9mm double pointed needles
Round 1: k2tog, k2tog, *p 2, k 2*, around
Round 2: *k 2, p2tog*
Round 3: *k2tog, p 1*, around
Round 4: *k2tog* around
Round 5: *k2tog* around

Cut yarn and using tapestry needle, thread needle and then through the remaining stitches. Once all of the stitches have been taken off of the circular needles, pull tightly to close the circle and weave in the end. Weave in any other ends.

Button Placement (optional):
Place button at the base of the cable and center in on the banding. If the button’s holes are large enough you can thread some of your bulky yarn and sew the button on. Weave in any ends. Enjoy your Pumpkin Seeds slouch hat.
